Today, I am planning and packing to leave for my scheduled Hip Revision Surgery tomorrow morning. After surgery, the doctors have advised me that I will have a longer recovery and rehabilitation time than with my first Hip Replacement; I will use a walker for six weeks and will not be able to drive for 8 weeks at a minimum . This is not want I had I mind when I thought about the New Year just a few months ago! I have had to cancel my whole Spring preaching schedule. However, I know the Lord is Sovereign! We may make plans but He orders our steps(Proverbs 19:21, 1 Thessalonians 5:18), and we are always called to joyfully and thankfully respond to His providence! I am so thankful for the truths of Romans 8 which encourage the believer! Like a mountain range with splendid peaks and beautiful vistas, Romans 8 begin with "NO CONDEMNATION " and ends with "NO SEPERATION" and in between is a valley of refreshing spirituals springs in each of the verses that refresh the soul. I can walk in peace know I am not condemned and nothing can separate me from the love of God in Christ Jesus. Over 13 times the Holy Spirit is mentioned in Romans Chapter 8, and He is our strength and help! When the Lord changes our plans in order to fulfill His plan, the Holy Spirit enables me to walk on in the strength of Romans 8:28! I do not know what tomorrow will bring. I do not know what the next weeks will be like. I do not know when will be the next time I am given the privilege to preach the Gospel, but I know who holds tomorrow and I know who holds me today! I am walking in the joy that He is working everything for my good and for His glory! During WW II, the enemy had discovered how to read the encrypted messages of our navy and this caused the fleet to sail there warships with sealed orders. Each Captain was told to leave port and go to a designated spot in the sea upon which time they were to open secret sealed orders of the mission. Today, I am sailing in the providence of God with secret orders to be revealed each new day! Hallelujah, I know the COMMANDER of THE COURSE!
